Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Osaka
Arrival at Kansai International Airport. After immigration and customs procedures, you will be met and transferred to your hotel by a Spanish-speaking assistant. Overnight stay. NOTE: Transfers are subject to public transport schedules. A supplement of $100 USD per person applies for arrivals between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. For solo travelers, the supplement is $200 USD.
Day 2 - Osaka – Nara – Kyoto
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet in the lobby at 9:00 AM and start the city tour with a Spanish-speaking guide. Visit Osaka Castle, known for its magnificent main tower, walls, moats, and defense towers. In March and April, enjoy the cherry blossoms in its gardens. Then, travel to Nara, one of Japan’s oldest cities, to visit Todaiji Temple with its giant Buddha and the Deer Park. Have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, head to Kyoto. En route, visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of torii gates. Transfer to the hotel for overnight.
Day 3 - Kyoto
Breakfast at the hotel. Tour the ancient capital with a Spanish-speaking guide. Visit Nijo Castle, residence of the first Shogun of the Edo period, and Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion. Continue to Heian Shrine. Lunch at a local restaurant. The tour ends at the restaurant. Optional or self-guided visit to the historic Gion district in the evening. Return to the hotel on your own. Overnight.
Day 4 - Kyoto
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day. Explore the city’s 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, or optionally take a day trip to Hiroshima via bullet train, including a visit to the Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima’s Itsukushima Shrine (included only with the -SI option). Overnight. (Prepare a hand luggage for two nights; suitcases will be transferred directly to the hotel in Tokyo the next morning.)
Day 5 - Kyoto – Nagoya – Magome – Tsumago – Takayama
Breakfast. Check out and send your luggage to Tokyo separately. Take the Jr. Nozomi bullet train to Nagoya (unaccompanied). In Nagoya, meet your Spanish-speaking guide to visit the historic post towns of Magome and Tsumago on the Nakasendo route. Picnic lunch. Drive to Takayama, exploring its Edo-period streets and artisanal shops. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 - Takayama – Shirakawago – Nagoya – Hakone
Breakfast. Depart at 7:45 AM with a Spanish-speaking guide to Shirakawago to see traditional Gassho-Zukiri farmhouses. Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to Nagoya Station, take a bullet train to Odawara. Transfer to the hotel in Hakone. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Hakone – Tokyo
Breakfast. Start at 9:00 AM for a tour of Hakone National Park: boat ride on Lake Ashi with views of Mt. Fuji (weather permitting) and a cable car ride. Lunch at a local restaurant, then proceed to Tokyo. Visit Tokyo Tower. Overnight.
Day 8 - Tokyo
Breakfast. Depart at 8:30 AM for a tour including Asakusa Kannon Temple, Nakamise shopping street, Meiji Shrine, and the Ginza district. Lunch included. Afternoon free. Return to the hotel on your own. Overnight.
Day 9 - Tokyo
Breakfast. Check out before 10:00 AM. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Narita or Haneda Airport with a Spanish-speaking assistant. NOTE: Transfers are subject to public transport schedules, with a $100 USD supplement for departures between 1:00 AM and 9:30 AM. For solo travelers, the supplement is $200 USD.
