Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Buenos Aires
Arrival at Buenos Aires International Airport. Meet our driver and guide and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2 - Buenos Aires
This panoramic tour lets us discover the most remarkable places in Buenos Aires. We will spend half a day exploring this cosmopolitan and eclectic city that constantly surprises with its notable contrasts. We start from our hotel and discover its wide avenues, including July 9 Avenue, the widest in the world, featuring the city’s symbol, the Obelisk. We’ll experience the frenetic pace of its commercial and financial center, then head to Plaza de Mayo, the historical heart of the city where the Neoclassical Cathedral, the Government House known as the Pink House, and the ancient City Council are located. We visit the neighborhoods of San Telmo and La Boca, which are perhaps the city’s most characteristic areas. In San Telmo, the city’s oldest neighborhood, a large number of antique dealers and art galleries are concentrated, and the traditional San Pedro Telmo Antiques Fair takes place on Sundays. La Boca, located in the southern part of the city, is one of the most picturesque sites linked to Italian immigration and tango. The neighborhood still retains streets like Caminito, now turned into a pedestrian walkway where the typical constructions made of wood and zinc sheets are showcased. We continue through the northern area including the Palermo Woods, the city’s true green lung, and lastly, passing by the elegant and chic neighborhood of Recoleta, we return to our hotel.
Evening Tango Dinner Show: Tango, music, and passion of Buenos Aires. Born in the last quarter of the 19th century in the city outskirts, it originated from a genuine mix of melodious heritages brought by various immigrant flows with local elements, often from murky origins. This led to the quintessential music of the city that identifies and defines it.
There are many opportunities today, and we propose a show in one of the many “tanguerías” scattered across the most typical and tango neighborhoods. The service starts with a transfer to the selected venue to enjoy the night where tango reigns, moving even the least prepared traveler. At the end of the night, close to midnight, transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Buenos Aires - Colonia
Today we suggest a trip across the Rio de la Plata to discover a real gem, Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We depart from the hotel to the port of Buenos Aires. We sail across the Rio de la Plata and reach Colonia del Sacramento. Upon arrival, we meet our local guide for a Walking Tour, exploring the historic neighborhood and the coastline up to the Real de San Carlos with its bullring. Guests will have free time for lunch (not included) and to explore Colonia on their own. Later, at the agreed time, we return to Buenos Aires.
Day 4 - Buenos Aires- El Calafate
Transfer from the hotel to Buenos Aires domestic airport. Arrival at El Calafate airport. Meet our driver and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5 - El Calafate
Boarding time at Punta Bandera Port (47 kilometers from El Calafate) is at 08:30 am, and departure is at 09:00 am after passengers are informed about safety norms and navigation conditions. Once aboard, we sail through the North Arm of Lake Argentino until reaching Upsala Channel, where we find a spectacular Ice Barrier. From there, we have a panoramic view of Upsala Glacier. We then navigate Spegazzini Channel, observing the Dry Glacier until reaching the front of Spegazzini Glacier, the highest in the National Park. We disembark in the Glaciers Bay, staying approximately 2 hours, enjoying stunning panoramic views of Spegazzini, Peineta, and Heim Sur Glaciers. The return to Punta Bandera Port is scheduled for around 4:00 pm.
* The itinerary may be modified based on weather and safety conditions and at the captain’s decision.
Day 6 - El Calafate
This park has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The glaciers that gave it its name—about 47 in total—display a world from 10,000 years ago: cold and wild. The most famous is Perito Moreno Glacier, located at the southwest end of Lake Argentino, 80 km from El Calafate. The glacier, named after the great Argentine explorer of the last century, is one of the few advancing glaciers in the world. This phenomenon has made it one of the greatest natural spectacles in South America. Periodically, its 60-meter-high front releases huge ice walls, large as buildings, that fall into the waters of Rico Arm or the Icebergs Channel, then float away across the lake. The glacier’s advance brings it close to Magallanes Peninsula, opposite the lake, where the walkways and viewpoints are located. This cycle lasts 4 to 6 years and ends up dividing the lake into two. Rico Arm is dammed and rises about 35 meters above its level. The waters slowly erode a tunnel in the glacier front until the pressure makes it collapse. The spectacle is indescribable. The waters crash down in giant waves, then the whole process begins again.
The Nautical Safari embarks at “Bajo de las Sombras” port. The excursion involves sailing on Rico Lake, allowing views of icebergs from Perito Moreno Glacier. Lasting about 1 hour, this provides a different perspective of the glacier’s imposing ice walls and their continuous collapses into Rico Lake. Once in front of the wall, the boat stops for a few minutes to better observe the landscape. Ideal for photography and filming.
Day 7 - El Calafate- Ushuaia
Transfer from the hotel to El Calafate airport.
Arrival at Ushuaia airport. Meet our driver and transfer to the hotel.
Day 8 - Ushuaia
12 km west of Ushuaia is the entrance to Tierra del Fuego National Park, the only one in the country with a maritime coast. It covers an area of 63,000 hectares where lengas, guindos, ñires, calafates, notros, orchids, violets, and senecios coexist. A visit to this national park offers multiple panoramic views of the Beagle Channel framed by mountains and forest, bringing us closer to Nature.
We board the train at the End of the World Station, in Ushuaia’s Municipal Camping. From here, trains follow the meandering Pipo River into Tierra del Fuego National Park. This route replicates that of the old prison train, and you can see the trunks of the trees used, silent witnesses to those times when Ushuaia was a penal colony. Charming early 20th-century wagons will take us back through part of Fuegian history. The train stops briefly at Cascada La Macarena Station where visitors find a reconstruction of a typical settlement of one of the indigenous tribes that lived in these lands hundreds of years ago: the Yámanas.
This stop also offers a chance to climb to a viewpoint providing a fabulous view of the Pipo River Valley and from which the “La Macarena” waterfall on the “El Martial” mountain chain can be seen. The train then enters Tierra del Fuego National Park. After skirting the peat bog, the train arrives at the Park Station.
We continue the route along the path that traces a very thin strip on the mountain’s slope; we pass between beaver dams and arrive at the Lapataia River. Crossing it, the route becomes winding and dotted with shrubbery, offering panoramic views, such as over Green Lake. Here, kaikenes and black-faced ibises arrive every summer.
The final stretch then begins towards Lapataia (end of National Route No. 3), where the area’s ancient inhabitants have left their testimony: the shell middens, incredible archaeological sites. Before returning to Ushuaia, there’s a stop in front of Roca Lake, whose color varies with the weather, offering a chance to enjoy a chocolate in the confectionery.
We set sail from the local tourist pier, touring the vast Ushuaia Bay until reaching the Beagle Channel via the Small Pass.
Here we’ll navigate around Bird Island, where we can appreciate the Fuegian avifauna, observing Skúas, Black-browed Albatrosses, Vapor Ducks, Sheldgoose, Cooking Gulls, and Grey Gulls; and Sea Lion Island, where we can see one and two-haired sea lions. Both islands are part of the Bridges Archipelago.
Upon reaching Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse (The Enlighteners), we can observe colonies of Imperial Cormorants and Rock Cormorants; and also hear about the sinking of the SS Monte Cervantes, which took place in 1930.
Completing the journey, we will be amazed by the view of the mountain range that surrounds the city of Ushuaia and the sumptuous nature that surrounds it.
Day 9 - Ushuaia – Buenos Aires
We depart from Ushuaia in the morning towards the lakes along route 3, which runs through part of the Fuegian mountain range and allows us to access Garibaldi pass, a panoramic point from which we can see Hidden and Fagnano lakes.
We begin the descent and divert from the route by old lumberjack trails. The trucks enable us to reach places that would otherwise be inaccessible, through forests, mud, rocks, etc. Lake Fagnano surprises us with its dimensions and its incredible landscape. We will have the opportunity to walk along the shore and appreciate the forest and beaver dams.
Afterward, we’ll go for lunch and recover energy. Then the adventure continues with the bustling crossing of Lake Fagnano to reach an internal route that leads us to Lake Escondido, smaller in size but surrounded by an incomparable natural setting. Once the visit is finished, we will return to the city of Ushuaia.
